Book Review
I had the privilege of interviewing Charmeljun Gallardo for his series, Ready for the World. I enjoyed talking to him a lot and we spoke about the characters that show up in his stories. This truly is a slice-of-life writing, and I thoroughly enjoyed reading about teenagers growing up at time when I wasn't even born! Reminiscing about days long gone is a beautiful thing. My favourite part of the series is that there are certain things that do not change whether you are growing up in the late 80s, 90s, or even 2000s! Because being a teenager, being reckless, and discovering love and heartbreak, friendship and betrayal would be experiences that everyone goes through.
Quite a selfish choice, but my favourite character in Brandon. I enjoyed getting to know the world through his eyes. The late 80s was an interesting time to be a teenager for sure! Personally, because I share his passion for writing I found him to be more relatable for me. I look forward to Brandon's further adventures and cannot wait to see how the story ends for him!
About the Author
Charmeljun Gallardo is a former Radiologist and author. His first book is Ready for the World young adult book series. He graduated from San Francisco State University with a Creative Writing degree in 1996. He is a writer, photography enthusiast, sports fan, movie geek, stroke survivor, and an adventurous foodie. He lives in San Diego, California with his wife and son.
